One Of Illinois’ Biggest Rivalries Returns To Benefit Charities
Finally, one of the biggest sports rivalries in Illinois returns to action this weekend to benefit local charities.
Illinois Is Full Of Legendary Sports Rivalries
There are many legendary sports rivalries in Illinois You've got Cubs vs White Sox, Illinois vs Northwestern, IceHogs vs Wolves, and that's just naming a couple.
When it comes to the biggest and baddest of all time, I would rank the annual Guns N Hoses charity hockey game right at the top.
What Is The Annual Guns N Hoses Charity Hockey Game
The Guns N Hoses charity hockey game is an annual event where Rockford Area Police take on Rockford Area Firefighters in a hockey game that benefits local charities.
Even though this is a fun event to earn money for local charities, that doesn't mean it's like Sunday night men's league hockey. This is a huge rivalry between the two teams. There is pride and a massive traveling trophy on the line. The loser has to wait a whole year for a chance at revenge.
The Game Finally Returns This Weekend
Unfortunately, there has not been a game since 2019 because of the pandemic. In the last game, the cops won an exciting battle in a shoot-out. The fire department has been waiting patiently for their chance to earn the title back. This is going to be an amazing event.
