Recently in Des Plaines, a grandfather had reached out to the local police because his two grandsons had gone missing. They had been gone all night long and he was concerned about their safety.

The Grandsons Aren't The Only Thing That Went Missing In Illinois

The grandfather had another problem on his hands. His pair of teen grandsons weren't the only thing that was missing. His car was also gone. He put two and two together and realized the boys had taken his vehicle without permission. Now, the cops were looking for the missing grandkids and his BMW.

This wasn't an incident of a couple of kids going on a joyride. These guys had a plan. One of them stole a license plate from another car thinking it would help them from getting caught. They picked up a couple of friends and took off for an adventure. Their original plan was to go to a buddy's house for a sleepover.

Illinois Police Track Down Teenage Car Thieves

The officers were able to find the teenage car thieves by tracking their cell phones. There was also footage of them from a nearby mall parking lot security camera. The police pulled them over and the four kids were arrested. Hopefully, they learned a valuable lesson.

According to patch.com,

A 14-year-old is facing a felony charge after he and his brother, who had been reported missing, stole their grandfather's BMW and placed a stolen license plate on the car.
