That happens a lot between Illinois and Wisconsin.

I think the perfect example is soft drinks. I would call that the official name of carbonated beverages. I have witnessed serious arguments between friends, family, and co-workers on what they call those drinks. When you think about it, the whole thing is pretty humorous.
What do people in Illinois and Wisconsin call soft drinks? I did a little research to find out the answer. According to a survey, the residents of the Land of Lincoln call it pop. Over 25,000 people responded. In fact, 65% call soft drinks pop in Illinois.
How about in Wisconsin? Of course, they're going to be different than their neighbors to the south. There, the residents call it soda. The survey asked over 12,000 people for this one and 68% called soft drinks soda.
I've had this discussion many times with people and from what I remember, my family called it coke but in a generic sense and not as a brand name. I can say that pop and soda were also used when I was a kid. What do you call it?
