7 Awesome Local People in 2016

Starting in April of 2016 we started handing out AWESOME awards.

Here is the concept behind this, we love where we work and live. It's really that simple.

The Rockford area can get painted by local and national media as this doom and gloom, crazy crime infested area. It is cooler to write or report a story about how many people in our area witnessed a crime, than it is to talk about how many people gathered to raise awareness about a deadly disease.

There are so many good people in our area, and so many of these people never get a thank you.

We started in April of 2016 asking you to nominate people in our area that do great things. With that we started handing out the "96.7 The Eagle Thinks You're Awesome Award".

Having these guests in studio to talk about the how and why they do what they do has been, well...awesome. Plenty of smiles and laughs, as well as plenty of tears in The Eagle studio in 2016 for sure. The lengths people go to clean up the streets, spread awareness about domestic abuse, put together organizations for people in need, and so on is incredible.
