First 96.7 The Eagle Award Winner, Vickie Benson

Today we presented the first ever "96.7 The Eagle Thinks You're Awesome Award".

Congratulations to Vickie Benson, the brains and passion behind "Rosie's Birthday Club".

When I was looking to put this award together, I wanted to start big so I asked around.

Who in the Rockford area should we recognize FIRST for simply being...AWESOME.

I turned to one of my best friends in the business, Whitney Martin from 23 WIFR.

Here is Whitney's response:

Vickie works behind the scenes to make sure hundreds of kids in our community feel loved.  With more than 80 percent of district 205 children living in poverty, Vickie Benson makes sure children feel special by throwing parties for kids who can’t afford to celebrate. Without her passion to help others, some teens would graduate high school without ever celebrating their big day. Vickie Benson collects presents year-round, providing gifts to students across Rockford. Without her help, hundreds of kids would have received oranges in place of Christmas gifts. Vickie Benson plays a major role in our future by making our youth are celebrated at times when mom and dad struggle to put food on the table.

Congratulations again to Vickie Benson, the founder of "Rosie's Birthday Club" and the very first winner of the "96.7 The Eagle Thinks You're Awesome Award". Thank you Vickie for all that you do for Rockford.
