The July Eagle Award Goes to Diane Reed

I had the pleasure of meeting, and presenting our "96.7 The Eagle Thinks You're Awesome" Award to Diane Reed on Wednesday.

Diane Reed is the mother of Amanda Reed. It was on September 5th, 2009 that Amanda's life was tragically taken by her estranged boyfriend.

The Amanda Reed Foundation was created to educate and provide awareness about domestic abuse. Domestic violence and abuse can happen to anyone, often overlooked, excused, or denied.

Since this foundation has been created, scholarships have been created and handed out to local high school students. The foundation has also donated thousands of dollars to Remedies and Children’s Safe Harbor, offered self-defense classes for high school students and donated over 70 digital cameras to 6 local law enforcement agencies throughout our community.

Through the life changed event, Diane has used this tragic situation to educate. It's because of this that Diane Reed is our July 2016, "96.7 The Eagle Thinks you are Awesome" award winner.
