Especially nowadays with all of the security technology and cameras. Business owners can track and observe everything that goes on in their building. If you're stealing, a nice clean path will lead to you and your arrest.

A longtime manager of Vita Bella Pizza in Plainfield has been accused of stealing more than $100,000 from the restaurant through "ghost employees" and ringing up discounts customers were unaware of, police said Thursday.

The suspect had worked for Vita Bella Pizza in Plainfield for many years. That makes this story even stranger. He must've watched "Oceans 11" too many times because he came up with a scheme to rip off his job owner. Now the guy has ruined his life, along with losing his job.

First of all, the suspect hired his imaginary friends to work at the pizza joint. Yes, he hired fake employees to work at the restaurant, and the man collected their salary. Then, when checking out customers, this guy gave them discounts and freebies, which of course he never told them about. He pocketed that cash too. Overall, he stole over $100,000 from his employer. Not a smart move.
