Most residents of Illinois know that crime has become a serious problem in our state and recently there's been a big increase in carjackings, so you have to be extra careful when you're out and about.

Illinois Thieves Have No Fear

The incident happened during the middle of the day at a gas station near Wrigley Field. Thieves are not afraid of stealing during the daylight hours anymore. Even with most places having security cameras nowadays. The scary part is that these crimes are happening everywhere. It doesn't matter what town or neighborhood. This is a pretty nice and safe area too.

Another Illinois Gas Station Carjacking

The woman pulled into the gas station to fill up her SUV. It was busy with several cars at the pumps. There were also a bunch of customers walking in and out of the store. The victim had no idea but there was a group of thieves watching her from a vehicle close by.

As she pumped gas into her vehicle on the passenger side, one of the suspects snuck into the SUV through the driver's door. She didn't hear anything and had no idea a stranger had gotten into the car. The thief even waited for her to finish filling up and removing the nozzle.

As soon as she was done, the suspect started up the SUV and drove off. The victim thought she might have accidentally started her vehicle but then the woman realized it was being stolen. Luckily, she wasn't injured.

Not The First Carjacking At This Illinois Gas Station

This wasn't the first stolen car at this gas station. It was the third time it happened in just three months. The latest robbery was just a couple of days earlier. Remember, to not leave your keys in the vehicle while filling up.
