SNL’s Superfans Pop-Up Bar Opening In Chicago To Support Da Bears
A new pop-up bar themed after the Saturday Night Live skit "Superfans" is opening in Chicago in honor of the city's favorite team, "Da Bears."
I'm a huge fan of Saturday Night Live. There are so many great skits throughout the show's history. One of my favorites has to be the "Superfans" and "Da Bears." Of course, because they're my favorite team.
With expectations high this season for the team, the old characters are making a come back. They were used in some commercials to promote the home opener against the Packers. People were excited to see their return.
When the Bears are playing, it's very important to have a cool place to watch the game. Of course, there are literally thousands across the state. That makes it difficult to pick. I think this new establishment might quickly rise to the top.
According to chicagomag.com,
"Swerski’s Bar, a pop-up in the back room of Timothy O’Toole’s, is a celebration of all things Bears. Named for the legendary SNL skit that birthed the now-iconic nickname “Da Bears” and put Chicago sports fandom on the national map, Swerski’s gives patrons a chance to have a seat at Da Superfan’s table."
"Surrounded by wall-to-wall Bears paraphernalia, a faithful reproduction of the Swerksi’s Superfans set sits in one corner, letting patrons recreate classic moments from the sketch. Those that don’t already look the part can get into the spirit by grabbing a Bears sweater, Ditka sunglasses, and even a prosthetic Ditka mustache off the costume rack. The pop-up menu is filled with references to the team’s storied past, with drinks like Payton’s Punch and The Fridge, named after beloved Bears, and snacks like the Winning in 2020 Wings. The pop-up runs every weekend this season"
