I remember being terrified going to my very first haunted house as a kid. At the same time, I was immediately hooked. Each year after, my friends and I were always looking for the next frightening adventure. Luckily, Illinois is home to many scary haunted house experiences.

The Best Haunted Houses In Rockford

I'll admit that I haven't been able to enjoy haunted houses as much over the last few years. Just an odd one here and there. I'm disappointed in myself for that. I decided this year, I'm definitely going to check some out. I wasn't sure where to start, so I decided this was a perfect opportunity for a social media survey. Luckily, participants had some awesome suggestions for me.

There were many recommendations for the best haunted houses in the Rockford area but two really stood out. I've heard of both of them and they've been around for quite some time. In fact, I would consider them a Halloween tradition.

Twisted Crypt Haunted House

• Recommended for 13 and over

• 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult
