3 Popular Movies Filmed In Illinois But Not In The Chicago Area
Some of my favorite movies of all time were based in Illinois. I'm talking about "Blues Brothers," "The Breakfast Club," and "Sixteen Candles" to name just a couple. I always feel connected to films shot here.

Of course, most of the movies and even television shows filmed in Illinois were shot in Chicago. It makes sense because it's a world-class city with so many great locations to use as a backdrop. Believe it or not, there have been some filmed in other parts of the state too.
I've found three movies that were filmed in other parts of the state besides the Chicago area. I think the list might surprise you. They're popular flicks so there's a good chance you've seen them.
# 1 "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, And Blonde" Released in 2003, the movie had scenes filmed at the Illinois House Chamber and State Capitol Building in Springfield. I saw this flick. It was cute but the first one is way better.
# 2 "The Informant" Released in 2009, the movie had scenes filmed at the Illini Country Club in Springfield. I never had a chance to see this flick. I heard it's good. Looks like I've added something new to the must-watch list.
# 3 "Bad Teacher" Released in 2011, the outside shots for the movie were filmed in and around Springfield. I love this flick. It's really funny. If you've never seen it, I highly recommend checking it out.
