I've driven by and seen the signs and then saw the conformation on the local news but it seems the Rockford area is getting a new supermarket.

Jet Foods is planning on opening up in the former Hilander location on N. Main St. in October.

The Chicago-based Freedom Development Group, Jet Foods' parent company, bought the property, located at 3710 N. Main, back in February.

Jet Foods currently has one other location and it is just south of Chicago in Park Forest.

According to the grocery store's website, they have already begun the hiring process and will be providing "fresh local produce at affordable prices to our community".

Welcome to town Jet Foods! Here's hoping this the start of something great, I mean there are other locations waiting for you here in Rockford.
