Recently I had to test my skills of how well I know pumpkin and I didn't do too bad. But this may be taking this trend a bit too far!  As we all know pumpkin spice season is here and we'll be seeing pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, from coffee, candy, and even chap-stick! You name it, it's probably got a pumpkin spice option. But a pizza chain may be taking it further than it should, in my opinion. If you, like me, feel pineapple doesn't belong on pizza then this will really make your stomach turn. Villa Italian Kitchen is now offering a pumpkin spice pizza.

Telling QSR  "Each Pumpkin Spice Pizza is made with Villa Italian Kitchen’s hand-stretched, homemade dough. Pumpkin pie filling, loaded with spicy notes of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon, is then spread across each crust before being piled with 100 percent whole-milk mozzarella and baked to golden-brown perfection. Additional dollops of pumpkin pie filling are added on top of the melty cheese for the perfect marriage of a classic cheese pizza and everyone’s favorite fall flavor.”

To me that doesn't sound very appetizing. Thankfully it'll only be available for a limited time, starting this Friday, September 22nd for the first day of Fall. I can only hope this a pumpkin spice trend that doesn't make it's way towards Rockford. To me, there are some things fruit shouldn't be a part of. What about you? Would you like to see this pizza make a debt at your favorite local pizza spot?
