St. Patrick's Day Is A Big Deal In Illinois

I'm Irish, so St. Patrick's Day was a big deal for my family when I was a kid. Of course, we would go out for corn beef and cabbage. Plus, the adults had plenty of green beer and whiskey to wash it down.

The great thing about living in Illinois on St. Patrick's Day is that our state knows how to celebrate. It's one of the best places for the holiday in the entire United States. It all starts in Chicago with turning the river green, lots of parades, and many parties.

Unique Way To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day In Illinois

One of my favorite ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day is with a good old-fashioned pub crawl. That way you can experience several different Irish pubs in one day. Of course, there are a bunch of those held all over Chicago but I discovered one that sticks out.

American Ghost Walks is hosting a special pub crawl but it also includes a ghost tour. Many of the Irish pubs in the Windy City are known for their paranormal activity. You'll have the opportunity to visit some of these historic taverns and hear their stories. You might even see apparition. Don't worry, you can always blame it on the booze.
