Everything has gotten so expensive that the residents of Illinois are looking for ways to get by, and unfortunately, for some people, that means breaking the law.
More People Are Shoplifting In Illinois Because The Economy Has Gotten So Bad
When I was a young child, I'm thinking 5 or 6ish, I got into some serious trouble for breaking the law. I was shopping with my parents, and I really wanted this little toy gorilla. They said "no," and I wasn't happy with that answer. When nobody was looking, I put it in my pants pocket. Later that night, my mom found it. My folks were not happy. The next day, they made me go back to the store and confess to the crime. The owner didn't press charges, but I was in home jail for a couple of weeks. Plus, it was a few days before I could sit down comfortably.

A growing number of Americans say they've shoplifted, with many pointing to inflation and ongoing financial pressures as major reasons behind the behavior, according to a new LendingTree survey.


Our economy has gotten really bad, and everything has become so expensive that people are trying to figure out a way to get by. Some of the residents have discovered a way to help lighten the load on their wallet, but there's only one problem. There's a chance you could get arrested and go to jail. More people in Illinois are shoplifting. In just two years, it's gone up from 23% to 30%. These thieves are stealing necessary items like groceries, clothes, and hygiene products. I wouldn't call them your run-of-the-mill criminals. Not products they would try to resell.
