Especially for older folks, who are now retired and living on their savings. It's important for them to have someone they trust to help take care of them. Unfortunately, an elderly couple in Illinois thought they had that person, but the suspect turned out to be a sneaky thief who robbed them blind.

During the investigation, detectives determined that approximately $400,000 had allegedly been withdrawn without the victims' authorization and was believed to have been used to purchase a home, English said.

He said detectives also uncovered evidence indicating that additional unauthorized withdrawals had allegedly been made from the victims' financial accounts.

An older couple from Joliet had $400,000 stolen from them out of their life savings. It was the last person they would have ever expected. It was their son. How low and dirty of a move is that? He ended up buying himself his own house. It just makes me sad to hear stories like that. I have to help out my mom, and would never ever think about stealing from her. I don't know how someone could steal from their parents.
