Illinois Laws You Didn’t Know Existed

Here are some laws that you didn't know existed in Illinois.

This is a short series of stories I started a few weeks ago. It's the fourth and final installment of crazy, weird, and unusual laws you didn't know existed in the state of Illinois.

They are all over the place. Many are out of date. Some are not enforced. Others are still relevant. They all have that one thing in common, They are strange.

Here are the last six on the list.

According to jg-tc.com,

• "In Moline, ice skating during the months of June and August is prohibited." Well, I can agree with this one if you're talking outdoor rinks because that's nearly impossible. I would say indoors would be okay.

• "In Horner, it is against the law to use a slingshot unless you are a law enforcement officer." You don't see a lot of slingshots these days. I don't really see it being a problem anymore. I think the Little Rascals wouldn't be happy with this law.

• "In Chicago, it is forbidden to fish while sitting on a giraffe's neck." I think I might actually pay to see this really happen. I'd cover the fine too.

• "It is illegal to hang "obstructions" from the rearview mirror, including fuzzy dice, air fresheners, GPS units, etc." I don't think this one is enforced. It's probably not necessary. Where else am I supposed to put my graduation tassel?

• "Kites may not be flown within the city limits of Chicago." I know I've seen people do this in parks with cops around and nothing went wrong.

• "In Evanston, it is unlawful to change clothes in a car with the curtains drawn, except in case of fire." I don't understand this one.
