I'm a proud member of Generation X. I can't really remember when I first heard about the different generations. I'm guessing it was when I became a teenager. That was the experience of generation gaps started popping up in my life. Back then, it was Generation X versus the Boomers.

Each generation experiences something brand new that the previous group doesn't understand. Even though I don't think it's necessary to specifically label generations for each era, I understand it can help the understanding of all the people when lined up against each other.

The new generation of children born starting in 2025 through 2039 will be known as Generation Beta. Sixteen percent of this generation will make up the population of the world by 2035. Their parents will be members of Generations Y and Z. They could live to see the 22nd century.

How did they get the name of Generation Beta for the next era of people? These generations are named not for just time order. Also, it factors in are things going on in the world like technology, culture, and events at the time. These children will be experiencing things like artificial intelligence.

Here are the previous generations by name that preceded Generation Beta.

  • Builders: Born in 1925 to 1945 (age 80 and over)
  • Boomers: Born in 1946 to 1964 (age 61 to 79)
  • Generation X: Born in 1965 to 1979 (age 46 to 60)
  • Generation Y: Born in 1980 to 1994 (age 31 to 45)
  • Generation Z: Born in 1995 to 2009 (age 16 to 30)
  • Generation Alpha: Born in 2010 to 2024 (age 15 and under)
  • Generation Beta: Born in 2025 to 2039
