When I was growing up, my family lived across the street from a public pool. I spent pretty much all day, every day, there in the summer. I have many great childhood memories of that place. There was only one problem. Since it was a public pool, every once in a while I would come across something like a Band-Aid floating in the water. That would gross me out.

It's such a famous moment. One of the swimmers finds poop in the pool. Of course, it ended up being just a candy bar. As a kid who spent a lot of time at the local public pool, I hoped I would never have an experience like that in my life.

Unfortunately, the public pool in Bolingbrook had its own real-life "Caddyshack" moment. Someone had an "accident" in the pool, and it wasn't a candy bar. The facility had to be shut down for a couple of days for a deep cleaning. If I lived there, I don't know how soon I would go back.
