Hall Of Fame Chicago Bear Brings Girl’s Pro Football League To IL
A Chicago Bears Hall of Famer is bringing a new women's pro football league to Illinois.
Women's Pro Football Game
Do you remember the Lingerie Bowl? It was alternative programming to the Super Bowl Halftime show on pay-per-view. It was women playing football. That was the first time ladies playing the sport were on my radar. I understand there were probably other teams and leagues but this is when I discovered it.
Women's Pro Football League
The Lingerie Bowl became so popular that it turned into a whole league not surprisingly named the Lingerie Football League. Then it would turn into the Legends Football League. After a few years with no games, women's football is back with a new league and owner.
New Owner And Women's Pro Football League
Women's pro football returns in 2022 with a new league called X League. There is also a new owner, Mike Ditka, the Hall of Fame Chicago Bears legend.
"The X League will kick off in 2022 with eight (8) teams to include the Seattle Thunder, Los Angeles Black Storm, Austin Sound, Denver Rush, Chicago Blitz, Kansas City Force, Omaha Red Devils, and the Atlanta Empire."
"Now from an ownership and executive perspective, I want to provide women a high-profile platform to compete against the greatest female athletes in the world while creating a destination league for millions of girls to aspire to play in."
"Mike Ditka’s X League will be televised both in the United States as well as international markets, will compete at major arenas and stadiums as well as launching leagues in Europe, Australia, and South America."
X League Is Coming To Illinois
Of course, Mike Ditka is putting a team in Illinois. They are the Chicago Blitz. Some good news, they will be actually be playing a game in Rockford at the BMO Harris Bank Center on August 6th.
