I'm guilty of it too. It happens. That's why spell check is our friend right?

I stumbled upon an article from the Huffington Post that listed out 17 Food Words People Spell Wrong All The Time.

I couldn't believe how many of them I have seen spelled wrong on common restaurant menus. Or how poorly I have spelled them before. (Shh... don't tell!) I will do my best to never misspell them again as long as you return the favor. Please, learn to spell them correctly. Better yet... let us learn to pronounce them correctly as well.

While I was working at one restaurant... the most annoying thing I have ever heard in my entire lifetime were guests always ordering the "Saallllll-mmmnnn." That is worse than nails on a chalkboard. How do you pronounce Salmon? Click Here to Listen to the Correct Way to say Salmon.

Can I get an 'amen' my restaurant friends? Here are my biggest spelling/pronouncing pet peeves:

1. Caesar: One of these commonly misspelled words is "Caesar." It is not 'ceaser' or 'caeser' it is CAESAR! When ordering at a restaurant please do not say "Can I have a Saaay-zer Salad." Learn to speak.

2. Sherbet: This one I've been guilty of plenty of times, but I will vow before you to never spell it wrong again. It is not 'sherbert' but sherbet.

3. Fettuccine: 'Hooked on Phonics' did not work on this one. There is no 'i' at the end of Fettuccine, deal with it. When ordering at a restaurant, please do not try to say Fettuccine in a very poor Italian accent... unless you are Italian.

All in all we aren't perfect, we are human right!? Let us all learn from each other's mistakes and work towards a brighter, Fettuccine filled world.
