Florida Man Hid Cocaine In His Butt During DUI Arrest
A 48-year-old man from Lakeland, FL, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol as well as possession of cocaine on Monday morning.
Marti Martinez, 48, was found sleeping behind the wheel of a pickup on the side of the interstate, according to deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy who spotted Martinez said he opened the truck's driver-side door and woke Martinez up. It was then that he saw a white powdery substance on Martinez' nose as well as smelled the strong odor of whiskey coming from his breath.
Martinez allegedly woke up with bloodshot and watery eyes, was speaking slurred Spanish, and couldn't perform tasks the deputy asked.
When the deputy told Martinez to get out of the truck, he forgot to put it in park and the car rolled forward. When he was unable to put it in park himself, the deputy had to help Martinez so he could exit the vehicle.
Martinez failed multiple sobriety tests, the deputy arrested him under probable cause of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The deputy used two handcuffs to detain Martinez so that he was more comfortable. While in the back of the squad car, the deputy watched as he answered multiple phone calls, then pulled two bags of a white powdery substance out of his pockets and shoved them in his anus.
After being transported to the Naples Jail Center, officials performed a strip search. Obviously, they found the baggies, which of course tested positive for cocaine.
A search of the truck found more cocaine as well as marijuana.
Martinez was charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, and evidence tampering. He was also cited for careless driving, improper tag display, and open container of an alcoholic beverage.
