A Chicagoland student was forced to miss graduation after an incident that seemed like a scene out of a teenage drama back in the 1990s.

Chicagoland Student Banned From 8th Grade Graduation After Edible Incident

This sounds like a scene out of the teenage drama "Beverly Hills 90210" back in the 1990s. A normally good kid does something like drink at prom, gets caught, and then is banned from graduation. It's been a while since I've heard a story like this one.

According to Fox 32 Chicago...

A Hammond mother says her 14-year-old daughter was barred from participating in her eighth-grade graduation ceremony after allegedly unknowingly consuming an edible at school.

In this case, it involves an eighth-grade student. On her birthday, one of her friends gave her a piece of candy. It wasn't a normal piece of candy. This was a cannabis edible. When it started to kick in, the student wasn't feeling right, so she went to the nurse's office. After a few minutes, another girl admitted to giving the victim a cannabis infused gummy. Luckily, the girl didn't have any health issues after the incident.

There was still some major fallout from the incident. Even though the girl had no idea that the candy was infused with marijuana, she was still suspended and banned from the graduation ceremony. The girl who supplied the special gummy was expelled. It's a very unfortunate case. She is a good student, but hopefully the girl learned her lesson from it. At least she still has her high school and college graduations to look forward to.

We've had to warn our children not to take candy from strangers. I guess we'll have to update that rule to include everyone. I don't understand why people have to pull pranks like that.
