During a fight in Illinois, a bowling ball was tossed and put someone into a coma.

If you've ever been in the middle of a melee, you know it could get pretty scary.

Several years ago, I was down at Southern Illinois University visiting some friends. One of the infamous "Halloween Riots" broke out in downtown Carbondale. The crowd of college students was going crazy, throwing things, breaking stuff, and starting fights. The police shot tear gas into the angry drunk mob. It was a frightening situation.

According to mystateline.com,

"Officials say a man has been critically injured after being struck in the head with a thrown bowling ball. The injury occurred during a fight at Town Hall Bowl in Cicero. The fight occurred during a promotion at the bowling alley."

During my trip to S.I.U., I was hit in the head with a full beer can and that wasn't pleasant. I couldn't imagine the damage a flying bowling ball could do to somebody.
