Beer Falls Off Truck in Joliet, Citizens Help Themselves, Toast Driver
It seems that about three times a year, we'll see a story about how the back doors of a money-laden armored car just "flew open" on a turnpike someplace, dumping cash all over the roadway, much to the delight of passers-by. Well, if you can't find free cash on the streets, you might as well have some beer.
Last Thursday in Joliet, it appears the back doors of a Budweiser Delivery truck flew open at an intersection in Joliet, and not unlike when cash goes flying, folks were hustling to grab as much beer as they could before the truck driver realized what was going on.
From the Herald-News:
About 11 a.m. the driver of a Budweiser delivery truck was turning at Cass and Collins streets when several cases of Bud Light bottles fell off the truck, Joliet Police Sgt. Patrick Cardwell said.
“Several citizens noticed and started helping themselves to the beer,” Cardwell said.
Cardwell said staff at the nearby Burger King called police after some of the witnesses to the spill started enjoying the salvage in the parking lot. No one was injured. The truck driver was not cited.
