An Off-Duty Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy Exchanges Fire With an Armed Robber
Tuesday night, the bad guy picked the wrong person to approach.
Sheriff Caruana is pleased to introduce the new patrol squads for the Winnebago County Sheriffs Department.
According to WIFR, Rockford Police Department responded to "shots fired" on Bell School Road and found out the situation involved a Winnebago County Sheriff.
An attempted robbery of two people inside a vehicle at 1600 Bell School Road, ended with the exchange of gun fire. One of the two victims was a Winnebago County Sheriff.
Several rounds were exchanged, no one was hurt and the bad guy fled southbound.
