Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker just opened a can of worms. This shouldn't come as a surprise though, Pritz has not been happy about local police departments for publically stating they will not punish business owners if they choose to open their doors ahead of the governor's plan. Some of these agencies include Winnebago and Ogle County and Illinois State Police. Today Pritzker just threatened Illinois police departments if they choose not to enforce his executive order. It's a straight-up bullying tactic.

In a tweet shared by Eyewitness News, Pritzker has threatened to withhold state funds if a police department does not follow his orders.

Failure to execute or enforce the [executive order] could be considered noncompliance with the [Public Assistance Program Grant] Agreement condition to comply with all applicable state laws, regulations and policies thus placing the applicant’s funding in jeopardy.

Seriously, J.B., you're making threats against men and women in blue who serve, protect, and fight the bad guys in Illinois? Do you think that's going to have an effect on the leaders of our police departments? Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana told Eyewitness News he's not scared.

To threaten any law enforcement agency that they’re not going to give us funding, that’s bully tactics. And I’m not going to be bullied.

The same goes for Ogle County's Sheriff, Brian VanVickel.

It is outrageous that the Governor is threatening retaliation against these leaders and the men and women of their offices. He is insulting heroic police officers, corrections officers and local voters.

Just like he retracted his threat to fine businesses that opt to open, he may back peddle on this too. Definitely not a "lead by example" move there, J.B..
