One of the most important food groups in Wisconsin is cheese curds, and this summer, there is a festival to celebrate the popular appetizer.

Popular Wisconsin City Welcomes Back Curd Fest

It's funny, I didn't grow up eating cheese curds. The closest thing I had was mozzarella sticks. When I went to college, there was a bar that served fried cheese balls. Those were pretty close. Then, when I moved to Rockford, I finally discovered the joy of fried cheese curds. I've been a fan ever since.

According to Curd Fest, Breese Stevens Field...

The original, and everyone’s favorite, annual celebration of Wisconsin’s most famous snack returns to Historic Breese Stevens Field.

 

13 years in the making and still chugging along, Curd Fest presented by Heins Contracting will return on Saturday, August 15th, 2026.

Whenever I go up to Wisconsin, and I stop to eat. The first thing I look for on the menu is cheese curds. If they have them, that order is made immediately. It's something you have to eat in Wisconsin. Yes, there is a big difference from anywhere else. If you're a fan of cheese curds, then you'll definitely want to check out Curd Fest this summer.

The Curd Fest is held each year at Breese Stevens Field in Madison. This year, the tasty food event will be held on Saturday, August 15th. There will be so many different kinds of cheese curds that it will make your head spin. There will also be live music and other activities. Plus, plenty of beverages to wash them down. Entry is free, but there is a special early bird VIP experience.
