September 30th is National Chewing Gum Day and I don't have to go far to celebrate.

Chewing gum is one of those things. Either you do it constantly or not at all.

As long as I can remember, I've been a fan. Especially, because fresh breath is essential in my life.

That's why I'm excited about this holiday.

"National Chewing Gum Day is observed annually on September 30."

It's such a simple celebration.

Best part, I don't have to go far to get some.

There is a gum factory right here in Rockford. It's part of the Mondelez International Company.

If you have lived here long enough, I'm sure you've driven down Forest Hills Road and smelled them making it.

In Rockford, the gum factory makes these brands.

I remember when I moved here, how cool I thought it was that gum was actually made in Rockford, Illinois.

Next time you are checking out the candy counter, be sure to keep it local and pick a flavor made in town.
