3 Things You Didn’t Know About Visiting Illinois’ Wrigley Field
I've made many trips to Wrigley Field throughout my life and every time I learn something new so here are some things you probably didn't know about visiting the iconic stadium.
Three Things You Probably Didn't Know About Visiting Wrigley Field
- #1 Chicago Cubs Fans Don't Know How To Do The YMCA
A big part of the Wrigley Field experience is the activities going on in and around the game. Two of the most popular are music and videos. The fans really react to the songs being played. That usually creates great material to show on the Jumbotron.
During the game, the DJ played the YMCA from the Village People. I swear nobody in the ballpark knew how to do it correctly. They could only do the Y part and then were lost. It was a bad dancing day at Wrigley. Make sure you practice before you check out a game.
- #2 You Never Know What Will Happen On The Train
Let's be honest, the best way to get to Wrigley Field is by public transportation. My method of choice is the "L" train. There's only one problem. You never know what you'll see. During my last trip in, the passenger sitting across from us rolled up a big old fat joint.
It was actually a pretty impressive effort considering the bumpy ride. He was about to fire it up when we stopped at a station. He jumped right out to do his business. Otherwise, the train car would have become a huge smoke show. I was relieved because that would've been hard to explain to my young nephew.
- #3 You Can Use Baseball Equipment To Food And Drink Out Of
I'll admit that I'm a big fan of the big plastic souvenir cup. I've got a collection at my house. Well, the Cubs have taken it to the next level. You can now actually eat and drink out of baseball equipment. Check out your options.
Baseball Bat Beer Cups
Batting Helmet Nachos
Baseball Hat Sundae
I hope those tips help for your next journey into Wrigley Field or at least gave you a little chuckle.
