The Real ‘Rudy’ Will Be In Chicago For 25th Anniversary of ‘Rudy’
My home bleeds blue and gold due to my husband's obsession with Notre Dame Football. His love for the Fightin' Irish runs so deep that when we first began dating he had a lab named Rudy, Rudy Ruettiger to be exact.
Back in the day I may not have understood his love for all things Notre Dame, but after watching the movie Rudy for the first time, I started to appreciate it. (Heck, I didn't even break up with him after watching him cry while watching it).
I bring this up only because it blows my mind that this year Rudy celebrates the 25th anniversary of its box office release, and I know my husband will want to go to the party Chicago is hosting next week in honor of it.
According to the Chicago Tribune;
On Aug. 6, the warmly regarded 1993 underdog favorite, starring Sean Astin as the improbable Notre Dame football legend Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger, celebrates its 25th anniversary with a Music Box Theatre screening. The Tribune-sponsored presentation will be introduced by Ruettiger himself.
Highlights from the Music Box event will be used in a video accompanying the movie’s return to nearly 700 theaters Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 across all 50 states. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Fathom Events are handling the national re-release.
Pretty cool, right?!?
Tickets for the August 6 Rudy event at Music Box Theatre on N Southport Ave. are $20 a piece and are available for purchase here.
