Get ready everyone, Rockford's Snowamania 2023 is running wild! WEATHER
So here's the scoop...Snowfall will continue until around 2am Friday morning throughout our area. This afternoon and this evening a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.
As we get into the evening hours, we should see a heavier downfall. If you can avoid evening hour travel, that might be a good idea. The hourly forecast calls for snow an more snow.
Thanks to WIFR here's a map that shows the storm that is heading our way and should keep us busy for the rest of the day and evening.
Total snow build up could be anywhere between four and seven inches before it's done dumping on us. The heavier appears to be late this afternoon into the evening hours, with 96% - 100% snowfall during these specific hours.
Temps will actually drop as well. We will hit freezing, 32 degrees around 7pm this evening. Temperatures will stay around 32 through the overnight hours.
You commute to work Friday morning could be tricky, with the snowfall tapering off around 6am Friday. School buses, your drive to work, everything could be a little behind.
Safe travels this afternoon and this evening if you have to be out. Again, snow all afternoon and evening with a total of 4-7 inches of snow before it's all finished.
