Rockford IceHogs 20th Season Finale Features Colonial Cup Trophy

This Sunday at the Rockford IceHogs 20th season finale will feature the Colonial Cup championship trophy.

I remember going down to the former "Rockford Metrocentre" on October 15th, 1999 for the very first Rockford IceHogs. I can't even count the number of games I've attended in the 20-year history. All I know, it's a lot.

I have a lot of great memories with the team. Especially, the 2006-2007 season. That year, Rockford won the only championship in Hogs history. It was the U.H.L.'s Colonial Cup.

The 2018-2019 season has been celebrating the 20th anniversary.

A few weeks ago, they had an "Alumni Night" and brought back some of the fan favorites.

Here's a picture of me and some of the former players on that night.

This Sunday is the last regular season game and the 20th season celebration finale. Of course, the team is going to do something special.

"The Rockford IceHogs are capping their 20th anniversary season by honoring former Hogs head coach, Steve Martinson, during the team’s regular-season home finale on Sunday, April 14 at 6 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Martinson led the IceHogs to their 2006-07 Colonial Cup championship and recently became just the third coach in history to amass 1,000 career wins."

"Fans will also have the opportunity to take a picture with the Colonial Cup during the IceHogs game on April 14. The cup will be on display in the Blue Flame Lounge throughout the evening during Rockford’s regular-season home finale."

"April 14 is also Fan Appreciation Night with the first 2,500 fans receiving a free IceHogs team poster, courtesy of American Solutions for Business. The evening’s festivities will also include the annual “Jerseys Off Our Backs” promotion, in which several lucky fans will be chosen by seat location to join a select number of season ticket holders as winners of a game-worn jersey from the evening’s game. Those selected will be presented with their jersey on the ice during a postgame ceremony."

Plus, the IceHogs are fighting for a playoff spot against their big rivals, the Milwaukee Admirals.
