The world of rock 'n roll lost some great people in 2014. 96.7 The Eagle will go 'Screamin' Into '15' New Year's Eve, beginning at 7 p.m. We lost legendary singers, guitarists, drummers and even a legendary disc jockey, but it seemed like a particularly tough year for bass players.

Here is a look at who we lost this year, in chronological order:

  • 1

Phil Everly- Died January 3, 2014 (Age 74)

Phil performed with his brother Don as The Everly Brothers and were there at the forefront of rock 'n roll. The Beatles were heavily influenced by their harmonies as was The Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and many others. Neil Young inducted the brothers into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, the first year they inducted members.

  • 2

Pete Seeger- Died January 27, 2014 (Age 94)

Pete Seeger predates rock 'n roll. He hung with Woody Guthrie, he was blacklisted as a commie and he was rumored to have looked for an axe at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival to cut the power that was feeding Bob Dylan's inaugural electric performance. He influenced every songwriter with a cause that came after him.

  • 3

Scott Asheton- Died March 15, 2014 (Age 64)

Asheton played drums for what many call the first punk band, The Stooges. They backed up Iggy Pop and continued the tough sound that was coming out of Detroit at the time. Every punk band that followed owes Iggy and The Stooges a debt of gratitude.

  • 4

Joe Lala- Died March 18, 2014 (Age 66)

Lala was a founding member of the band Blues Image and played on their only Top Ten hit, "Ride Captain Ride." He also played with Joe Walsh, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, The Bee Gees and more. He was also an actor and appeared on Seinfeld, Miami Vice, Hunter and many other shows. He also was a voice actor on many cartoons.

  • 5

Dave Brockie- Died March 23, 2014 (Age 50)

    NSFW Video

We've all gone through our Gwar phase, haven't we? No, probably not. Brockie was the lead singer of the band and performed under his moniker Oderus Urungus. Gwar is shock value, pure and simple. You think Slipknot invented the big scary masks? Nope.

  • 6

Ed Gagliardi- Died May 11, 2014 (Age 62)

Gagliardi was the original bass player for Foreigner and play on their first two albums. It was reported that Ed passed out when he was let go from the band.

  • 7

Tommy Ramone- Died June 11, 2014 (Age 65)

Born Erdelyi Tamas in Budapest, Hungary, Tommy Ramone was the last surviving original member of The Ramones. When Motorhead writes a song about you, you know you're influential.

Casey Kasem- Died June 15, 2014 (Age 82)

    NSFW Video

Growing up, a young Brizz would listen to Casey Kasem's Top 40 every weekend. Truth be told, I listened for the music, not the DJ, but I can't deny the man was great at what he did. When he died, there was an embarrassingly fierce battle over his estate and even where he was to be buried.

  • 9

Johnny Winter- Died July 16, 2014 (Age 70)

Winter was a force to be reckoned with. The man even more so than the season. He played at Woodstock and toured, produced and played with Muddy Waters. When his brother Edgar played at On the Waterfront several years ago, he dedicated the song "Tobacco Road" to Johnny, and I couldn't help but smile. You could feel the love he had for his brother. The real deal.

  • 10

Dick Wagner- Died July 30, 2014 (Age 71)

Wagner played guitar with Alice Cooper on his classic early albums and wrote "Only Women Bleed." He also played and/or wrote songs for Lou Reed, KISS, Hall and Oates and many others. He formed a band in the early '70s called Ursa Major that featured a young Billy Joel on keyboards.

  • 11

Glenn Cornick- Died August 26, 2014 (Age 67)

Cornick was the original bass player for Jethro Tull and played on their great early albums, but quit the band just before work on "Aqualung" began. One of my favorite albums I have is the original Tull release "Stand Up" that features a pop-up of the band members.

  • 12

Jack Bruce- Died October 25, 2014 (Age 71)

As far as I'm concerned, Cream could've been called The Jack Bruce Band. Yes, Clapton and Baker are forces to be reckoned with, but few can match the intensity that is Jack Bruce playing lead bass guitar and wailing away with one of rock's most powerful voices. As a teenager, I played the living hell out of my Cream albums, especially Live Cream Volume II. This one hurt.

  • 13

Rick Rosas- Died November 6, 2014 (Age 65)

You may know Rosas as Rick the Bass Player, a title bestowed upon him by his close friend Joe Walsh. Rosas played most famously with Walsh and Neil Young. Occasionally Joe and RTBP would host radio programs in Chicago in the '80s and '90s, and it was always great. Rosas played with the reformed Buffalo Springfield in 2012 and filled in for Billy Talbot when Neil Young with Crazy Horse toured Europe earlier this year. Always a gentleman.

  • 14

Bobby Keys- Died December 2, 2014 (Age 70)

Bobby was an important part of the Rolling Stones sound, especially in the 1970s. Sax in a rock tune is not the easiest thing to get away with, but Bobby always made magic happen. He was also Keith's number one partner-in-crime, even sharing the same date of birth with the Stones guitarist.

  • 15

Ian McLagan- Died December 3, 2014 (Age 69)

McLagan was a member of Small Faces and was finally inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame last year. He also collaborated with countless other rock 'n roll heavyweights, including Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, Chuck Berry and many others. It seems fair to call him a friend to everyone.

  • 16

Joe Cocker- Died December 22, 2014 (Age 70)

Joe was as soulful as a human being can get. I always saw him as a combination of Ray Charles and Janis Joplin, which is unfair on many levels but it's just what I hear when Joe sang. I was lucky enough to meet him at a John Mayall concert in the '90s, though Joe was sleeping in is chair. Funny story, serious soul.
