NUIC Week 3 Recap
By Al Zipsie
The night started with six NUIC teams undefeated and ended with only half of those still with unbeaten record intact.
Powers Lena-Winslow and Forreston and Aquin all went to 3-0. While upstarts Durand/Pecatonica, West Carroll, and East Dubuque all lost their first game of the season.
The middle of the NUIC now has parity. Previously winless Dakota and Eastland/Pearl City notched their first wins. In the first week of the League games in the North Dakota and Du/Pec were for the first time in years evenly matched. And it was an exciting tight game as Dakota pulled out the must needed win 28-20. For the Indians, it was back to a ground and pound game as they completed only one pass on the night. Quarterback Josh Clark gained 88 yards rushing with two touchdowns and had a key interception on defense. Evan Riggle rushed 25 times for 133 yards and 31 yard TD jaunt. For Du/Pec Hunter Hoffman had three touchdown passes clicking on 13 of 22 passes for 173 yards.
East Dubuque fell to Lena-Winslow 48-12.
In the South in a defensive battle E/PC shutout West Carroll 8-0. Aquin kept rolling 42-14 over Milledgeville. On Saturday Orangeville got by Galena in a North game 9-0.
In a crossover game, Stockton had a 40-6 rout of A/FC.
