North Boone Farmer Also Keeps His Community Safe as a Firefighter
How this Hometown Hero finds time to handle two big jobs is beyond me, but he does it exceptionally well.
Gail Worley, of Poplar Grove, was nominated Stan S. of Belvidere.
In the note with this submission, it's clear Gail take pride in working hard, serving others, and brings out the same in the men and woman he works alongside.
Gail is the Chief of Department for North Boone District #3. He has been a member of the Department for over 40 years, and Chief for over 20. In addition to running the department, he is also a full time farmer in Boone County. Gail spends countless hour’s safe guarding the local community, and has built this Department into one that other Departments aspire to match in response times, and community involvement. Gail has given decades of his life to keep his community safe, and making sure his fire fighters are the best trained in the area. Gail's commitment to his community, & his commitment to the men who serve under him make him my recommendation for Boone County's "Hometown Hero."
We were also informed that Gail is now North Boone District #3's Fire Department Trustee. Along with his farming responsibilities, and 4 decades as an active duty firefighter and chief, he is now responsible for the long-term management of the local volunteer Fire Department.
We are proud to recognize Gail Worley as a Hometown Hero.
As a Q98.5 Hometown Hero, Gail will receive a $100 Amazon gift card thanks to Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress. Although we're certain he won't spend it on himself, whatever he uses it for will bring joy to someone, and that's what life is all about.
