Things Are Getting Spicy In Illinois At The Annual Hot Sauce Expo

I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to hot and spicy food, I'm a big wimp. Big Red chewing gum is too much for me. I'm more of a flavor person than a heat guy. I don't go much beyond mild. Otherwise, I'll be hurting for a while.

Even though hot and spicy aren't for me, I have plenty of friends and family who really enjoy the heat. In fact, the hotter the better for them. They're always looking for the next hot sauce challenge to experience.

If you or someone you know are into hot sauce, Illinois has the perfect festival for you. There will be plenty of spicy food for you to taste along with many other fun activities. Of course, there will be several different types of cold beverages to help out your mouth.

It's the 5th annual Illinois Hot Sauce Expo. It's hosted by the city of Joliet (9 East Jefferson Street). The event is being held on July 20th and 21st. It's an all-ages event so bring the family. Different ticket packages are available now.

The festival features the Stage of Doom with different hot sauce eating contests. They're even going to try and break a world record. Free hot sauce tastings. Wash it down with craft beers and specialty cocktails. For your entertainment, pro wrestling matches. Food and other vendors on site.
