High School Girls Flag Football Kicks Off Officially This Fall In Illinois
It's been an amazing year for women's sports. A year ago, a world record-breaking crowd of 92,000 fans packed the stadium at the University of Nebraska to watch the Lady Cornhuskers take on Omaha in volleyball.

The outstanding University of Iowa basketball player, Caitlin Clark, brought much-needed attention to women's college basketball. Now, she's carrying to WNBA to a whole new level of popularity.
At the 2024 Summer Olympics, female athletes from all over the world made a huge impression on fans when they got their opportunity on the big stage. These special women are getting the recognition they deserve for their hard work.
It's a historic time for girls' high school sports in Illinois. Earlier this year, the Illinois High School Association officially announced that girls' flag football will debut this fall with an IHSA State Series, and an IHSA Girls Flag Football State Champion will be crowned this season. I'm so excited for these female athletes getting this awesome opportunity.
It's so great to talk to my friends who have daughters who are playing flag football this fall. Both the parents and girls are super excited to get the season going. Practice officially started this week and games will soon follow.
If you get a chance, go out and watch some of these games. The girls need the communities' support. I believe that this will become one of the more popular sports at Illinois high schools which is really cool.
