Illinois City Bans Assault Weapons
Deerfield, Illinois has made a statement.
Assault Weapons Ban Expires
A suburb of Chicago has put a ban on assault weapons. According to The Blaze, the village of Deerfield has put a ban on assault weapons and "high capacity magazines" and the fines that come along with it are $1000 per day.
The Board of Trustees in Deerfield "unanimously approved" this assault weapon ban that will go into effect in June.
The term "Assault Weapon" includes the following:
- Semiautomatic rifles
- Semiautomatic pistols
- Semiautomatic shotguns
- Shotguns with a revolving cylinder
- Uzi
- AK-47
- AR-15
Larry Nordal of Deerfield, believe this is just the beginning of what could happen:
“First, it’s going to be assault rifles, there will be new bans in the future. It’s just a matter of time.”
