According to a CBSNew.com report, approximately 2,020 pounds of raw ground beef from the Amity Packing Company has been recalled due to a possible "clear, thin pliable plastic" contamination.

The announcement came Friday from the U.S Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Servies (FSIS).

The ground beef that has been recalled is a product called Pre Brands LLC's 1-lb vacuum-sealed beef and was produced on January 6, 2020.

This beef will be labeled as 95%lean, 5% fat along with the establishment number "EST. 6916" printed on the front right side of the package. Also according to the USDA, the packaging has a slogan stating "We're 100% transparent. Literally".

Pre Brands say they became aware of the possible contamination after receiving consumer complaints from two separate customers. Nothing has been confirmed as far as anyone having a bad reaction from consuming the beef.

"FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers, Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."

Retailers in nine states were said to have received the potentially contaminated beef, those states include Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
