My family has a cabin in Wisconsin, so we spend a lot of time in the great outdoors during the summer months.

I've found a tick or two on me and my dogs in the past years, and every single time I am mortified. Two summers ago, while swimming in the middle of the lake, I discovered I had a tick between my toes and immediately started screaming at the top of my lungs. People thought I was drowning or in major distress. Maybe it was a tad dramatic, and I was in no danger of drowning, but I was DEFINITELY in distress!

Let's get back to my point...I HATE those little suckers, but unfortunately becoming a buffet bar for ticks and mosquitoes is a risk you take anytime you spend time outside when it's warm out.

The one thing I am diligent about in the summer is putting flea and tick preventative on my dogs, and after seeing this pic shared by the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in Waunakee, Wisconsin, I will never lapse on their monthly prevention application ever again.

I don't know if that tick is dead and still laying eggs; if it's still miraculously breathing in a closed bag for over two weeks, but either way, it is literally the stuff my nightmares are made of.

Set reminders to put tick preventative on your pets every month. Wear hats in the woods. Don't have that thing and its hundreds of horror-show babies in your home. I'm going to go throw up now.
