Rockford Peewee hockey club wins the first Illinois state championship in team history.

When it comes to youth hockey, Rockford has a strong program and a rich history. The teams have been quite successful. Just take a look at the number of championships the Rockford Icemen won.

You can add another one to the list.

According to mystateline.com,

"Ranked 3rd in the United States and 1st in the State of Illinois, Rockford Hockey Club’s Peewee AA team finished off an impressive season by winning the 2020 Tier II 12U AA Illinois State Championship for the first time in their club’s history Sunday. They defeated the Northwest Chargers by a score of 6-2 after splitting their regular-season games with them 1-1. The team’s overall record was 43-13-2."

The squad is coached by former Rockford IceHogs player, Oak Hewer. Since the Hogs arrived in town, there's been a great connection between them and the youth programs.

Congratulations to the team for an awesome year.
