Traditional cigarettes have been banned from public places in Illinois for quite some time, but in an effort to shield children from smoking in their young age, Ogle county has now banned electronic cigarettes.

According to WIFR, the flavors and disguise of the devices have made them extremely popular for middle and high school students. The number of students using electronic cigarettes has tripled.

The ban will follow suite with the smoke free act for traditional cigarettes. If you are caught lighting up your electronic cigarette in a public place, fines range from $100 to $2,500 depending on if it is a repeat offense or not. The ban will go into effect in a little over a week.
