For the 13th consecutive year, Living Lands and Waters is continuing it's 'Million Trees Project' to clean and enhance the environment in and around riverways. But, according to their press release, the initiative does so much more.

The Million Trees Project was initiated in 2007 to help further the Living Lands and Waters mission to protect, preserve and restore the natural environment of our nation’s major rivers and their watersheds. Their mission is to not only clean up the riverways but to also enhance the watershed by planting native trees and removing invasive plants.

If you live in Ogle County and would like seedlings for bur oak, red oaks, and swamp white oak trees, you'll need to visit Jarrett Prairie Center on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. That's where Byron Forest Preserve District will place seedlings, 10 seedlings per person, to plant on their property on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Local Ogle County residents can take up to 10 seedlings each to plant on their property while supplies last. The seedling can be found at the Jarrett Prairie Center front drive.
