The temps are rising, we can sniff the hint of Summer in the air, so of course that means road construction season is in full swing.

We all know that navigating road construction during the warmer months is a constant nuisance, but it makes it a little less frustrating when the detours and lane closures don't take you by surprise. So...if you live in Ogle County, or drive through it often on I-39, consider this your official "heads-up".

13 WREX reports;

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced construction on the
bridges carrying northbound and southbound Interstate 39 over Kilbuck Creek in Ogle County will begin on Monday, May 3.

IDOT says the work being done includes structure repairs and expansion joint replacements among other things, and that it will take place primarily between between exits 111 (Illinois 72) and 104 (Illinois 64).

As long as Mother Nature decides to cooperate, the work should be finished by mid-July 2021, and drivers can expect traffic to be reduced to one lane in each direction while it is underway. If waiting in traffic is one of the the things you hate most while driving, I suggest you plan alternate routes to get where you going starting this Monday, May 3.

One last thing thing, which is probably the most important thing to remember; if you have no way of avoiding driving through a construction zone, stay alert and mind your speed. If you don't, not only will you endanger a life, but the cops will definitely set you up with a nice ticket to remember the rules by.
