Illinois Police Bust Counterfeit Money Operation

It's funny because I rarely ever carry cash on me anymore. Most venues, arenas, and stadiums don't even take it. I was in a restaurant the other day and they offered me a discount if I used money but I didn't have any so I used my card as usual.

I guess since it's such a digital world nowadays, I don't even think about counterfeit bills anymore. I used to be concerned about it but like I said, I normally don't carry cash. I'm more worried about someone hacking into my account.

Apparently, just because a lot of people don't actually use cash anymore that doesn't mean the criminals aren't going to still try and make counterfeit bills to use at brick-and-mortar businesses. In fact, Illinois police just busted someone with fake money.

With technology becoming so advanced, counterfeiters can set up shop in their basements and print fake money right off of their computers. Luckily, they still get caught. A man in Chicago got busted with $92,000 in fake dollars.

The suspect recruited women to go into stores and purchase items with counterfeit money. A couple of days later, he would have them return the merchandise for cash. Boom, he traded out the fake bills for real ones.

During the investigation, the police were able to track down the bad guy. Now, he's going to spend some time in jail to think about what he did. I'm guessing no one will take cash from him anymore.
