Congratulations to the police in Illinois for a massive raid that netted them one million dollars of stolen sneakers.
Sneaker Thieves Arrested During Million Bust In Illinois
I wanted to be the kid with the cool sneakers, but it was never going to happen. My parents thought it was a bad idea to spend a lot of money on shoes when I was growing up because I was just going to wear out and outgrow them.

I begged for Jordans when they came out. A bunch of my friends got the shoes but I was left out in the cold. They cost $65, and there was no way my parent were spending that much on shoes. I guess I could have bought them, but I spent my cash on records.

My parents would give me $20 for shoes. I found a place that sold Converse All-Stars for $9.99. I would buy a pair of those and pocket the rest. Who knew they would become so popular down the road? I was hip and didn't even know it.
My parents would totally flip out over the cost of shoes nowadays. Sneakers have become a big thing worth huge money. Fans camp out to get the newest kicks like we used to do for concert tickets. Then flip them for a massive profit.
I'm not surprised that the Illinois police made a million-dollar bust of the top sneaker brands because they are worth so much money. The cops were checking out a suspicious warehouse that stored thousands of pairs of shoes.
During the investigation, the police discovered a rented warehouse full of stolen sneakers, including Nike and New Balance. The seizure of the hot merchandise puts the total of recovered stolen items at $4.5 million for the past year. Congrats! Nice work by the Illinois police.
