Chicago's hockey world has been rocked after breaking news this morning. The announcement also affects Blackhawks-affiliate Rockford IceHogs. Many hockey fans woke up to surprising news of Chicago Blackhawks firing 3-time Stanley Cup-winning coach Joel Quenneville.

In a statement at NHL.com, 'hawks Chairman Rocky Wirtz said. "The Chicago Blackhawks front office has made a decision to release Joel Quenneville from his head coaching duties, doing so with my full support." You can read the full statement here.

Along with announcing (former) Coach Q's firing, Chicago Blackhawks announced Rockford IceHogs head coach Jeremy Colliton will lead the Blackhawks effective immediately.
