In the history of Chicago sports, one of the greatest eras of all time was the Blackhawks' three Stanley Cup championships. For fans in Illinois, it was a fantastic time. Many of those players now call the Windy City home or at least still spend a lot of time there. Several have jobs with the organization or in the area as coaches, scouts, media analysts, team ambassadors, and more.

Those teams were jammed back with stars but the role players became fan favorites too. They stepped up when needed to make a name for themselves. The perfect example is backup goaltender, Scott Darling. In the 2015 playoffs, he made a legendary appearance by coming in relief and winning an important game in double overtime. He will forever be in the hearts of the Hawk faithful after that effort.

Now, Scott Darling is retired. He had that tough decision of trying to figure out what was next. He's going into comedy.

Comedian & Former Hawk, Scott Darling Has A New Side Hustle

Apparently, Scott Darling's after-hockey career as a stand-up comedian has already gotten him a new side hustle. He will join the Chicago Blackhawks pre-game and post-game shows on NBC Sports. I'm sure he'll use some of his hockey knowledge for that gig too.

I was lucky enough to meet Darling while he was in town playing for the Rockford IceHogs. He's definitely one of the good ones. I wish him luck and hope to see him perform live someday.
