Capri Pizza, Our City Our Story

If you've ever been to Capri Restaurant in Downtown Rockford, chances are you've seen Vito making your pizza.

Pablo Korona and he's crew have again highlighted an aspect of this community that is a beautiful staple. In his story film series Our City, Our Story, a different and amazing part of our city is highlighted. This time it's Vito Grisanzio Sr. and Capri Pizza. After immigrating to Rockford from Bari, Italy, Vito quickly began making pizzas. And for the past 54 years, that's what he's done.

Easily one of my favorite places to eat in town. Vito is usually the first person you see when you walk in because of the window that leads to the kitchen where you can see him hard at work making pizzas. That's my kids favorite part of the restaurant. Mine's the food, some of the best Italian food I've ever had. And I'm married to an Italian man, so I'm pretty vast in the cuisine.
